Very rainy today; the garden will have to wait until it dries out a little. I still have a patch to turn and de-turf, but the beans and peas have been in for a couple weeks now.

It's been a very busy week, full of worries and reliefs. Encouraging news about my brother and uncle, on the medical front. Spent a lovely day on Wednesday with my parents, which included a walk through an old beech grove by the river - daffodils and cowslips and trilliums just starting to bloom.

Happy May Day everyone!

Pleasing to know there is relief, however small, from your worries concerning your family.

Beltaine blessings & joy!

Thank you. It's hard with my uncle being so far away (in Peterborough). It was amazing how that simple walk lifted our spirits. Joy and blessings indeed!

Likewise on wet gardens! First it was so cold...the soil held no warmth at all, and now it is just sodden. No maypole dancing in THAT muck!

It's raining here again - my rain barrel filled in no time flat and I had to run out in the middle of it and set up the overflow. Ah, the worms are swimming and the robins are happy!

Happy (somewhat dreary) Bealtaine!
Our peas are just starting to emerge...

I enjoyed the bit of sun and heat we got around noon before it got dreary again. No sign of peas here, and I caught a squirrel treating the beans like a buffet. I doubled sowed, so we'll see...

I swear by the "pee" method to protect the peas (and beans)!
;o)
