There are FIFTEEN Shunga scents this spring. OMGS. There's only one way to winnow them down - IRON SHUNGA DEATH MATCH!!

Harimise
Rice powder, osmanthus, rose geranium, magnolia, khus, and chestnut.

Rich and warm even in the imp, very nutty and almost sweet. The chestnut is definitely the major note and grows almost buttery (or maybe creamy - the rice powder?) over a touch of spice/incense - must be the khus or geranium. Quiet and a touch foody.

VS

Kiss Among Discard Tissues
Blackberry, white gardenia, burnt mandarin rind, Indian musk, khus, and white musk.

This fades so quickly its hard to get a handle on it - sweet floral with a hint of fruit; the khus is very, very light, just a touch of earthiness. If it keeps fading I'm definitely going to have to try a second test to get a true read on it.

WINNER: Harimise. possibly bottle-worthy

I can't play with harimise, darn it....it sounds yummy. But rose geranium is a pretty violent allergen for me. The second one sounds terrific, too; i am a sucker for gardenia and musk.

I think I'm going to have to try it again at a later date and really slather it but I'll wait (since I have only a half imp, and friends who still have to try it). I liked what I smelled but so, so faint. (I do like musks, but white musk can sometimes be tricky for me.)

Harimise is all buttery chestnut now, hanging on even hours later.

I'll just sit here and be envious, lol; knowing my luck, I'd be allergic to chesnut, too! Enjoy it for me ok?

Will do! I'm allergic to a lot of pollens myself (especially tree and grasses) but fortunately essential oils rarely set me off. Alcohols and aldehydes in most commercial perfumes will get me every time, too.

Oh, if it was only pollens. I am literally allergic to practically every tree nut I have had....if not at once, soon. I only discovered macadamia nuts about 6 years ago, last year became allergic. So, chesnuts, growing on a tree? Yeah, very likely a no-no.

And yes, in ordinary perfumery, the carriers light me up in all the wrong ways. BPAL forever!
